One of the most popular and historically significant concert halls in the entire city, the Trocadero Theater is a landmark amongst connoisseurs of live music in Philadelphia.  Located in the heart of Philly’s Chinatown, this celebrated venue hosts all types of musical acts from hip-hop artists to heavy metal bands, truly offering something for everyone’s taste.

Originally opened to the public in 1870, the Trocadero Theatre (or “The Troc” as it is affectionately known as to enthusiasts) was first named the Arch Street Opera House, and specialized in the hosting of traveling minstrel shows and musical comedies.  Following this, it acted as a venue for vaudeville and burlesque shows (which were particularly popular throughout the 1950s), then was used as a fine arts theatre and art house cinema after being refurbished in the 1970s.  Upon meeting with moderate success as a dance club in the 1980s, Trocadero was ultimately modified for its present use as a live music club

Proud to host acts both amateur and nationally-known, Trocadero has a detailed events calendar loaded with entertaining choices for discerning music fans of all demographics.  A staple of Philadelphia’s “indie” scene, it even hosts a weekly movie night on Mondays, displaying mostly independent films that are not widely circulated in theatres on a national level.

Trocadero’s main performance area can accommodate up to 1,200 people for a standing-room general admission event (600 for a seated event).  “The Balcony”, an area separate from the main stage, can accommodate up to 250 people.
