Located only 90 minutes outside of Philadelphia in Easton, PA, the Crayola Factory is a child-focused visitor centre with over a dozen interactive exhibits designed to foster creativity and an active imagination in its visitors.  Much more than just a guided tour, the Crayola Factory offers guests “The Crayola Experience”; a series of displays that explain the brand’s history and manufacturing process while encouraging children to develop a sense of art and design.

The Crayola Factory is also home to the world’s largest crayon. Truly a sight to behold at 15 feet long by 16 inches in circumference, this impressive 1,500 lb wax behemoth is made up of 123,000 normal-sized blue crayons, and rests prominently outside of the gift shop.

Themes and projects at the Crayola Factory change quarterly. Here are a few of the exhibits currently on display:

Easton Press & Bindery

This exhibit investigates both traditional and non-traditional printing techniques, giving guests insight into age-old practices such as bookbinding and stamp making.  Educational and fully interactive, it is the perfect place for families or groups of any size to develop a basic understanding of printmaking.

Crayola Chronology

This exhibit explores the rich history of the Crayola Company, starting from its roots as a small art supply business all the way to its current position as the largest crayon manufacturer in North America. You will also witness how the crayon has changed over the years, discovering fun facts such as why Crayola is originally credited with creating black tires and red barns.

Crayola Meltdown

This exhibit helps children to unleash their creative sides by allowing them the unique opportunity to paint with melted crayon wax.  With sixteen different Crayola colors to experiment with, this one-of-a-kind artistic experience lets guests experiment with various painting techniques.  For safety purposes, Crayola Meltdown is restricted for anyone under 43” in height.
